Pierre Fortin

June 1979, my first guitar lesson was with Marc Crumb (ZAX and Melaena). Then later, John Mock (Dixie Chicks, James Taylor, Kathy Mattea). Both of these local guitar heros had a great influence on my playing.  Within 3 years I was playing professionally in cover bands with songs by Journey , Pat Benatar,  AC/DC, Bob Seger,  and many other groups of the early 80’s.

In 1984 , I went to Musicians Institute  Hollywood Ca.  I saw many great guitarists such as Al DiMeola (one of my influences) , Steve Vai , Allan Holdsworth , Jeff Baxter , Eric Johnson (another influence) ...and in my graduating class , Jimmy  Herring and shred master Paul Gilbert.

I graduated from GIT Musicians Institute in 1985.  Taught as a private instructor for the Summer Sessions at GIT in 1985 and 1986.

From 1990 -1999, I was involved with many original band projects.

Played bass guitar, lead guitar and wrote the song "Perilous Navigation" on Brad Sandlin's solo album "Gnawing at the Infrastructure". 

Played bass and lead guitar for the Jim Lee project. 

Played bass for local original metal band Mean Greely. 

Played bass guitar, guitar, guitar synthesizer, wrote lyrics and arrangements, produced demos for the band Creeping Jenny.

In 1996-1999, I was a private guitar instructor at Ron's Guitars.

Sept. 2009- I was the store finalist out of 15  guitarists  for a national blues guitar solo competition.

I'm once again offering lessons at Ron's Guitars. My lessons are catered to the individual student based on skill level and personal goals. I teach by learning songs, chords, scales , and understanding fundamentals to create music on your own. I Teach how to play by ear and use theory to expand your musical skills.

My main styles are Rock , Blues, Fusion, Hard Rock  and  Metal.
