If properly cared for your new guitar will give you many years of pleasure. To insure that your new guitar always looks, sounds and plays the very best it can, read thru the following:

Care and Maintenance

Keep it clean. Dust and dirt are abrasive and can scratch the finish the instrument. Gold-plated parts are especially susceptible to corrosion. After you have finished playing, wipe thoroughly the entire guitar including the strings with a clean, soft cloth. Regular cleaning with guitar polish is recommended.

Use a guitar stand or the case when storing the guitar for short periods. Never lean it against the wall or a piece of furniture.

Never expose the guitar to extremes of temperature. During the winter months, warm up your car before transporting your guitar. Never store your guitar in your trunk during the summer or winter. Avoid direct sunlight and other sources of excessive heat.

Strings

Change your strings. Don't wait for them to break. Dirty, corroded or worn strings cause, loss of sustain, loss of treble and faulty intonation. Fresh stings will add to the enjoyment and tonal qualities of your guitar.

Action

Action is measured by the distance between the string and the fret, and determines the ease with which the strings can be depressed. On new guitars, the action is set at the factory. If lower than "factory" settings are desired, the result can be "buzzing". This is caused by the string vibration and is not considered a defect of the instrument.

Truss Rod

Most guitars have an adjustable truss rod running the length of the neck. This rod strengthens the neck and insures straightness. Occasionally there are times when the neck may need adjustment (from changes in string tension, humidity or climate). This adjustment should be performed periodically and only by a qualified technician.

Intonation

Like the action, the guitars intonation is set at the factory. The quality of the strings affects intonation as does the gauge of strings. For guitars equipped with a tremolo, changes in string gauges can affect the bridge angle as well as the intonation. Should you wish a different than factory string gauge or if you tune your guitar different than standard tuning, we recommend having the guitar's tremolo "balanced" by a qualified technician.

Warranty

All new guitars carry a manufacturers' warranty covering defects in material and workmanship. Note: consult your owner's manual or warranty card for specific information about what is covered and for how long. IMPORTANT: You must retain your sales receipt as it is your proof of purchase covering your warranty and must be presented to obtain warranty service.
